It was a frigid winter morning, I woke up as usual with my hair high and shakin’. Then I realized I didn’t have school because the meteorologist said it was supposed to snow today.

When I remembered, I scurried to the living room to see how it looked outside, so I peeked out the window and it was an icy wonderland. Ice sickles hanging from the roof, ice covering the cement, and about a couple inches of snow in the driveway.Where I’m from that’s a big deal.

So when everybody was awake, I got some warm clothes on and went outside. I decided to make a snowman by myself, but you know how when you make a snowman, it’s body parts are in a sphere shape. When I made  it’s body parts, they were more in a cubic shape. Soon after I finished, I went in my house to get  some stuff to put on my snowman. I heard a sound that surprised me. It sounded like, “PHOOP,” I heard it again so I went outside to see what was happening. It was my dad throwing snowballs at the snowman, and managed to get the head knocked off. I shouted, “Headless Snowman,” and that seemed to get his attention right away.

“It’s on!” I said with anger in my voice. We must’ve thought of the same thing because we started throwing a cluster of snowballs at each other. Jump, duck, jump, duck I thought as I dodged the snowballs.

I guess we must have gotten tired, so we just made up. I am a little surprised he did that but I can always make a snowman next year.

It was a boiling spring day outside at recess. I was playing tag with my friend Adam. While he was trying to find me I was hiding in the olay. Then while I was hiding two girls started chasing me around. I had to run so fast it felt like I was going at the speed of lightning. “These girls are really fast!”

We have been running for five minutes, or that’s how long it felt to me, and these girls were still right at my tailbone. They wouldn’t quit, every time I turned my head they were right there. For almost the whole time I was running I hoped I wouldn’t fall because I am so clumsy.

After a time of thinking I thought of a strategy, I would run to the chainlink fence and when their on one side, I would be on the other side. But for some weird reason I lost them. Then, I turned my head to see if they were behind me and … BOOOMM! The left side of my head hit a screw sticking out of the chainlink fence. Then I fell to the unforgiving hard ground. Luckily, my friend Adam was right there. He helped me up and asked me, “Are you okay?” I said, “Yes.” But when I felt the left side of my head, it felt weird. It felt like a wet, soft ball of rolled up skin. I then noticed there was a lot of blood coming down my head and getting all over my yellow shirt. My friend Adam noticed that I was bleeding and took my to a lunch monitor. Suddenly, a group of kids started to crowd around me and began saying, “Eeewww!”

The lunch monitor quickly took me to the nurse who also happens to be my mom. It took what seemed like a couple of minutes of waiting outside the door to the nurse’s office. When she opened the door, she looked surprised to see me. When I showed her what happened, she immediately got her stuff and said, “We have to go to the ER now!” My mom and I hurried to our van and drove to the emergency room. As my mom drove, I was doing math facts in my head to make sure nothing was wrong with my brain. When we got to the ER, the nurse who was taking care of me asked me a lot of questions. When the doctor was ready for me, I had to lay on an uncomfortable bed. The doctor gave me five shots to numb the skin. They felt like bee stings! The doctor had to give me nine stitches! It looked like it was in the shape of an arrow. I had to wait one week until I got my stitches out. I think if Adam didn’t help me when I fell, I would have been on the ground bleeding and losing consciousness. That’s why Adam and I are going to be friends forever.
