Follow My Eater

Max! Max! Max! A total slobber machine!
One cool spring day my Mom, my cousin Adam, and I were at my grandma’s house. Adam and I decided to go outside to play with my dog Max. I brought my book Follow My Leader with me to read.
“Let’s play basketball,” Adam said.
“Fine, but just for a little bit,” I told him. So I put my book down on the seat while Max was pacing around me. We played some basketball. When I got back to read, my book was gone!
“Max, did you get my book!” I shouted. I looked at him and he had the book in his mouth! “Max, don’t eat my-,” it was too late, he had eaten it. I was staring at him as he consumed my book. Now instead of Follow My Leader, it was follow my eater.
“Nooooooo!” I shouted, “Why would you eat paper Max, that’s for recycling bins!” I angrily clached the book from his mouth and tried to go inside. “Adam, move!” I commanded.
Adam teased me, “Ha! Ha! Max ate your book!”
“LEAVE ME ALONE!” I shouted.
“Fine,” Adam said.
So I went inside worrying that I would get grounded. “Mom look what Max did,” I yelled.
“Uh, oh” she sighed, “Was that a school book?!” she asked, “Because if it is you are grounded!”
“God, why do you have to be so mean?!” I shouted. I stormed outside. “I can’t believe I left my book outside so Max can eat!” I shouted to myself.
“Sorry,” Max seemed to say goofily with his little puppy eyes. It made me giggle a bit. “It’s okay, Max,” and I learned not to leave my book outside again.
