My state of mind right now simply put is stressed! Thanks to the help of some of my students I got a lot of work done at school today, but it seems as if everything else is going haywire. Not bad exactly, just not within the realm of my wishes. Nothing seems to be going the way I intend. My mind is spinning out of control. Control…

Control is out of reach

Taunting and tricking you with every breath

Luring you into a false sense of security

And then snatching it out from under you

Just when you think you have protected them all

It spirals away from you

Reminding you that it has a mind of its own

Control is

An illusion

Sounds like you need to just “let go” and do something crazy! It’s as if the “control” has “control” of you! This evening when I got home from work, I thought, “I can start working on school stuff right now…or,” and so I asked Tim and Tina if they wanted to go out and enjoy a coffee with me. We ended up at Coldstone Creamery where I got coffee and cake batter flavored ice cream mixed with Butterfinger pieces. Yummmmm! Yea, I lost “control” and indulged myself, but I needed it. Once we got home, we sat and vegged in the family room through one episode of Stargate Atlantis. Now…well, let’s just say I’m not going to be doing school work for too long tonight! And yes, I agree, control is an illusion. It allows you to think you’re in control just enough, and when you feel like “you’ve got it,” BAM, you walk into a brick wall. The beauty is that…tomorrow…you can be back in control!

Thanks Johanna. =) I wouldn’t necessarily say that I’m stressed. I just wish I could find a way to get everything that I want to done in order to make things great for you all!

Well, I mean that you just can’t get it. You try and reach out to grab control over things, but it is always a step ahead of you. I say that because you really can’t have control over anyone but yourself, and so when we try to control life-it is really an impossible task because you can’t control anyone else.

Oh no Patty, that’s not it at all. I suppose this little poem was more of a way to express the frustration I feel when I can’t get things in life to go as smoothly as I would like. In my perfect world (which I do realize is an unrealistic expectation) everything would just run smoothly without any glitches…lately though it seems like there are a lot of little glitches that keep putting some unexpected stops into my days!
