This was a question asked by one of my students. Hmmmm! I pondered as I wondered what the best way was to answer the question, and then, “it hit me like a bolt of lighting!” I needed to answer the question with a ‘post’ to my ‘Blog!”

A ‘Blog’ in the simplest term is an online journal. You can write (a post) in this journal, and friends and family can comment on your post (your piece of writing). This ‘blog’, this online journal allows you to reach more people than just your teacher. When your friends and family write a comment…to your post…on your blog…it shows you (the author) that someone other than your teacher cares about your writing and what you have to say. Likewise, when you comment on a friend’s post, you are telling them, “Hey, what you just wrote was worth reading and responding to!”

Hopefully, all this feedback will encourage you to want to write more!

…when you’re having fun, or when you’re too busy to even stop and “smell the roses!” I can’t believe that we are already in the 3rd week of school! I feel like it just started yesterday. Today, I actually said to my class, “answer me a question…did it feel like this morning ran smoother…or was it just me?” They agreed that this morning felt smoother. I think I’m getting there…this “ritual and routine” thing…what a concept! And, when you get it going, it’s a wonderful thing! I’m on track of getting it going!

This morning was quite interesting…I brought the mobile laptops (C.O.W.) down to our room, and we visited a website on the “reading of a triple beam balance”. Before this week, I had never used a triple beam balance! You see, it’s true! You’re never too old to learn something new! Anyway, back to the triple beam balance site. We were able to play around with measuring the mass of weights, and the kids had a blast. It was a little confusing at first, but it didn’t take long to get the hang of it. Tomorrow, we are going to measure the mass of different objects on actual triple beam balances in the classroom.

In case you’re interested in the site: www.wisc-online.com (type in triple beam balance in the search bar. Then click on view object)

I registered (it’s free)

Wow! It’s been awhile since I’ve sat down and written in my blog. I have been spending my evenings getting my students’ blogs going. Tonight, I tried to respond to all of them. I noticed some you had blogs from Mrs. H’s class. Next time we go to lab, you need to read some of their blogs and comment. Well, I would write a little more, but I’m heading to Ms. H’s blog to comment to some of her students.

 Bye bye!
