As I was reading a colleague’s blog, I started thinking about tests. I realized that our fourth graders are expected to take 4 pretty major tests in the course of about a 3-week period, beginning tomorrow. There is the 3rd 6-weeks Sharon Wells Benchmark. We just received the YISD math and science benchmarks which are to be administered somewhere between Jan. 22 - Feb. 1. Then the state popped a writing field test on the students which is to be administered somewhere between Jan. 28 and Feb. 6. The actual window, timeframe, for all 4 tests is Jan. 17 - Feb. 6. I find that a bit much. Oh, might I add that on Mar. 4, the students will take the TAKS Writing. I really believe we are asking for quite a bit from the students.
