Standing Tall

After I typed the title I vaguely remember a movie titled that. Anyway, I would really like to keep up with the post about the baby.  It is a good way of documenting all his first  accomplishments, to match his pictures (Technology is great). Everyone says  babies grow so fast. This is so true. I can’t believe he is already standing. After I came back from vacation in July he was starting to move from the crawling position to the sitting position. Within the week he was pulling himself up to his knees in his crib. Then what I had been waiting for happened, he took his first crawling steps, sat up and clapped  for himself. He must have met his personal goal(Not just mine). He is now all over the house reaching for anything in sight. Now I am starting to hear myself say “No” more often. We have put covers on the outlets and started to take precautions for the new commuter within the household.

Last week, one day as I walked into his room to check on him napping (or so I thought) I found him standing tall in his crib. As he saw me, he squealed and gave me a big smile. He was holding on tight to the crib railing afraid to let  go even with one hand as I reached for him. Now we have to lower the mattress in his crib to prevent any accidental falls.  This week, as he explored the living room, he no longer looked only  straight ahead but UP!! He is now looking for places where he feels he could try and pull himself up.  I can’t wait to see what his next accomplishment will be!!

Yesterday July 17 the baby cut his first tooth. This summer is filled with baby first milestones. The first week in June he learned to old his own bottle to eat. The 3rd week he started sitting up on his own. Two weeks ago he started standing in the crawl position. I think he is getting ready to crawl, he looks funny when he is on all four and just rocks back and forth. He moves the whole playpen, he is trying to figure out how to lunge forward.
I hope he masters this before I go with the older kids to California in 2 weeks.
